Former legend All Blacks Player, Michael Jones, is a self-proclaimed Taumeasina Island boy. His family origins are deeply rooted in the village of Moata’a, where the resort is located. Michael recalls spending his childhood days playing in the pristine natural environment surrounding Taumeasina Island Resort. It was Michael’s knowledge of the area and the local customs that made him an excellent fit as Brand Ambassador for the resort.
“Taumeasina Island Resort brings to the world a “special” place in so many ways… the richness and mystique of Samoan culture, life and traditions.” - MICHAEL JONES
Michael was born in Auckland, New Zealand to a Samoan mother and New Zealand father. He was a talented rugby player from an early age and went on to play for the internationally renowned New Zealand All Blacks. Michael is well known for his involvement in helping and working with the Pacific Islander youth in New Zealand. In 1990 Michael received a New Zealand Medal for service to the Pacific Island community and to this day remains heavily involved in charity and community work.
Nathan Bucknall, General Manager of Taumeasina Island Resort is ecstatic to partner with Michael Jones, "he is a role model for many young Pacific Islanders and has strong family ties to our local village, who have played a huge role in making Taumeasina Island Resort a reality".
Taumeasina Island Resort looks forward to sharing Michael and our journey with you and sharing the real Samoa to all of our guests from around the globe.
Current Time On The Island
We moved to Taumeasina for 2 nights after staying at Aggie Greys for 3 nights. I wish that we had stayed our entire trip at the Taumeasina! The staff couldn't do enough for us and the accommodation was spectacular.
