Taumeasina Island Resort Hosts Lunch Buffet at Mapuifagalele Home

Posted by Nathan Bucknall on August 30, 2022

Today, August 30th, 2022, Taumeasina Island Resort were proud to host a buffet lunch at Mapuifagalele Home for the Aged.

Mapuifagalele Home for the Aged plays a critical role in the care of Samoa’s elderly population. Managed by the Little Sisters of the Poor, Mapuifagalele Home has a special place in the heart of Taumeasina Island Resort. With a brief interruption caused by the COVID pandemic and subsequent border closures, Taumeasina Island Resort has made annual contributions to the Home.

Taumeasina Island Resort has always enjoyed a close relationship with Mapuifagalele Home, as one of the owners of the Resort, Sir Kostas Constantinou, is a proud benefactor and staunch supporter of the Little Sisters of the Poor.

The Little Sisters reached out to Taumeasina Island Resort earlier this year to resume our relationship now that borders are open and the Resort is operating at full capacity. We were delighted to assist again, as our last visit was in 2020.

We were grateful to receive the thanks of the Mother Superior at Mapuifagalele Home, and we will certainly return next year to continue our support.

General Manager of Taumeasina Island Resort, Tuiataga Nathan Bucknall, was more than happy to roll up his sleeves and join the efforts.

“Once again it was a pleasure to visit the Little Sisters of the Poor at Mapuifagalele, they do such a wonderful job here in Samoa.

A small representative team including myself from Taumeasina Island Resort served a lunch prepared by our new Chef Rajinder Kothiyal, who recently arrived from another post in Papua New Guinea. Among the items served for lunch was an amazing sweet and sour fish, and chicken and cauliflower, salads, desserts, fruits, and of course everyone’s favourite braised Taro.

It was a pleasure to be able to spend some time with both the residents and the nuns, as the last time we visited them was late 2020.”
